About Julie:
Julie Carpenter is metal artist working in Birmingham, AL. After earning her BFA from the University of Montevallo with a concentration in metal fabrication and casting she has been working and educating in this medium. Her ongoing artistic practice centers around the nuanced interplay between resilience and fragility, a thematic motif she perceives as fundamental both in human character and artistic expression. This balance emerges in her creations through the inherent sturdiness of metal in contrast with the depiction of seemingly refined botanical motifs and delicate feminine figures.
